Season 1: Lifestyle
Get ready to adjust to a whole new lifestyle
As salamu alaykum family! In today's newsletter, we are going to go through life changing habits that we are going to implement starting today. Email me your experiences during this journey. Insha Allah, we are about to embark on an unforgettable spiritual and physical experience.
We Must Set Reasonable Goals
In the beginning, we might get really excited and aim for the stars and feel discouraged if we don’t accomplish what we hoped to. This will not be the case. We will set nearsighted goals. Weekly expectations and improvements for the next week.
Most people make New Year's Resolutions and fall short because they make goals that are too far into the future. You can’t compare yourself on a yearly basis. That means you overlook so many minor problems that are the cause for the major ones that you tried to get rid of and overcome.
So everything will have to be on a weekly basis. Every week, we see if we accomplished what we had in mind. And we will judge ourselves and hold ourselves accountable. Every Friday, we will have a revision of our goals and we will highlight where we fell short and what we need to do to improve.
Consistency is by far the most crucial factor for attaining success in any faculty of life. You must remain consistent despite not seeing any improvement long term. You must avoid long term thinking when it comes to success and transformation. You must overcome today and tomorrow will present itself if Allah is willing.
‘The signature of mediocrity is not an unwillingness to change. The signature of mediocrity is inconsistency.’
-John C. Colins
In order to avoid sins and harmful habits, we must have discipline. A man is one who is disciplined in the face of temptations. He is consistent in his duties. Islam stresses the great importance of discipline. Prayer is the greatest form of discipline. 5 times a day at all points of the day. Fasting, restraining from food and water. Charity, patience, humility, good etiquette, the list goes on. To be successful you need to have these three skills in practice. Now, I will help you with a standard goal.
It is February 14 2024.
For the next 7 days we will do this:
We will complete all the prayers ( Fajr, Duhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha)
We will go to sleep earlier and wake up early.
We will change our diet, no more junk foods, anything related to sugar!
We will drink lots of water
We will exercise at least 2-3 out of these 7 days
Every night, we will read 1 juz of the Quran
At least 2-3 times out of this week, we will give Dawah within our limits.
We will attempt to repair any broken relationships
We will not use curse words
We will avoid music
These are the Ten things we will do for the next week. Give me updates on your journey and tell me about all the benefits you are experiencing.
We are about to change our lives tremendously. We will regroup on our Life changing series next Week Insha Allah.
Can’t wait to connect with you soon !
