Be Grateful: I know it’s hard to remember all of your blessings in this world. Social media can affect our acknowledgment of the blessings Allah has blessed us with. For example, you FINALLY started losing weight and you feel so much better about yourself! But, you see other people with more successful results. You may feel discouraged and may overlook the blessings of your health and the fruits of your work. Or, you are SO EXCITED for your first cheque you made online, but someone you know made twice as much! And all of a sudden you feel discouraged. Or, if you are a sister, you are super excited about your new abaya or hijab! You look in the mirror and you love the new threads, but you see someone else and think that they have a cooler hijab! AHHH, you lose your happiness over the lack of gratitude. What do you do? You always acknowledge your blessings! ALHAMDULILAH FOR EVERYTHING! There are brothers and sisters that WISH to have HALF of what you have! Not trying to guilt trip, of course. But, we must recognize that Allah has given us all so many blessings. Of which, we don’t even know most of them:
“If you tried to count Allah’s blessings, you would never be able to count them. Indeed humankind is truly unfair, ˹totally˺ ungrateful.”
Quran 14:34
Just remember that whatever you are sad with or frustrated, you are in fact, overlooking so many things to be happy with!
Anyone who is grateful does so to the profit of his own soul”
(Quran 31:12)
In fact, the more you are grateful the more Allah will bless you! See everything to be a positive experience.
'If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more.”
Quran 14:7
Facing Pain: The first thing most people feel is grief, immense grief. But most of this grief comes from a place of uncertainty. “WHY ME!” “WHAT DO I DO NOW?” We usually forget that pain is the ingredient for strength. If you’re lifting weights and don’t feel pain, you are not gaining. The more pain you endure lifting, the stronger and bigger your muscles become. When you were taking your first steps as a baby (you probably don’t remember), you fell. And when you fell, you cried. But why did you cry? You cried because that was the worst pain you felt up to that moment. You never felt such gruesome pain! But today, you are walking! You needed to fall a hundred times to walk. And you were in so much pain! But looking back now, it was necessary for your growth. Similarly, today you may experience the most pain you ever felt. That is a moment of character development, that pain will make you stronger, and you will be better off after the fact. Be strong. Be conscious that this life is a life of pain, sadness, grief, happiness, love, laughs etc,. See the best in everything.
“Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity.”
Quran 2:86
All the pain and suffering you acquire in this world, is assured by ALLAH, that you are able to overcome them.
We will keep looking at more examples in a few days, May Allah bless you all.
